Sweet potato vine multiplication training kicks off in Embu

The Kenya Agricultural Research and Livestock Organisation (KARLO) and International Potato Center (CIP) are implementing Development and Delivery of Bio fortified crops at scale (DDBIO) funded by DFID.

The project aims to train devolved vines multipliers in Central and Eastern Kenya, providing them with clean pre-basic seed which shall enable them provide clean planting vines to other farmers. This project will also link the devolved vine multipliers with KEPHIS who will certify the vine multipliers to produce certified clean planting materials.

The training kicked off at KARLO – EMBU on 3rd August 2020 targeting DVMs from Embu, Kirinyaga and Muranga.

We expect that the DVMs shall have sufficient, certified sweet potato planting vines by the long rains in March 2021.
